Since it can be hard to wash sponges effectively, I like to cut them in half so i can get more use of them and replace them more often.

While a good dawn dish soap scrub every once in a while, is always needed, a quick dry brush cleaner is great for when you have a brush that has has leftover dark or colorful pigment in it or a build up of cream product. Either dip the brush it a little bit of liquid and then swirl on a paper towel and repeat until clean or put some on the paper towel and swirl the brush on it for smaller not as dirty brushes.
